Our Outdoor Gaga Pits are built from Australian H3-treated pine, a strong, structural-grade timber designed for permanent outdoor use. It’s durable, reliable, and well suited to busy school environments.

The timber is treated with LOSP, a non-arsenic, EPA-approved treatment that is safe for children and ideal for long-term outdoor exposure.

Every panel is machined, finished, and prepared in our Melbourne Workshop — with precision machine drilling for perfect, consistent assembly every time. Smooth edges, clean cuts and thoughtful detailing ensure a safe and comfortable play space for students.

This product is large and arrives as a single package.
Your order will be delivered on either a crane truck or a truck with a tailgate, depending on your location.

Delivery is made to the closest safe drop-off point, as drivers are unable to move the package beyond that location.
If you do not have a pallet jack or forklift on-site, the package will need to be unstrapped, unpacked and carried to a secure, undercover area until installation.

Why does an outdoor product need to be stored undercover?

Although the Gaga Pit is designed for long-term outdoor use, the timber behaves differently before it’s assembled. When the panels are lying flat and unscrewed, they are more susceptible to moisture-related warping, which is true of most timber products.

Once the pit is assembled — with hundreds of screws securing each panel in an upright position — it becomes strong, stable, and far less responsive to moisture. This is why temporary undercover storage is essential.

Improper storage won’t make the product unusable, but it may make installation more challenging, as pre-drilled holes might not align as precisely as intended.
A dry, sheltered space will help ensure a smooth and accurate build.

Our Permanent Gaga Pits are designed to be simple and reassuring to install. If you have a prepared, level surface and a handyperson who’s comfortable using a power drill and following clear instructions, you’re all set.

Every kit arrives cut to exact measurements, pre-drilled, and supported by step-by-step DIY instructions, making the build surprisingly straightforward.
For most prepared sites, our team completes installation in 1–2 hours, which is a good guide for what you can expect.

It’s an ideal project for a school working bee, community group, parent committee or grounds team — a chance to come together and create a new play space students will love.

If you're short on time or prefer us to handle the installation, we offer this service in selected major metro areas. Just reach out and we’ll be happy to help.

Our Gaga Pits can be installed on a variety of surfaces, as long as the area is safe, level and prepared correctly.

Concrete or bitumen

You can place the pit directly onto a level hard surface.
We recommend adding a protective layer — such as artificial turf — to create a soft, comfortable surface for hands and knees during play.

Soil, grass or sloped areas

These surfaces require some preparation to ensure a level, compact base that provides good ball bounce and a stable foundation for the pit.
This usually involves levelling the area and adding compacted material such as crushed rock.

Beyond this period, natural timber movement and weathering can occur, and ongoing performance relies on following a regular care and maintenance routine. Timber is an organic material, and caring for it properly ensures the best long-term result.

Of course, all customers are protected under Australian Consumer Law, but we hold ourselves to a higher standard. We’re invested in building long-term, meaningful relationships with our schools and communities, and we’ll always work with you to find a fair, supportive solution.

If you purchased a raw (unpainted or unsealed) product:

We recommend oiling or sealing your product before use to enhance its durability and protect it from the elements. Oiling helps lock in colour and provides a barrier against moisture and weathering.

However, this is not a permanent solution—ongoing annual maintenance is required to keep your product in top condition. Regular oiling or sealing will help prolong its lifespan and maintain its appearance.

If you purchased a painted or sealed product from us:

No immediate action is needed! Your product is already sealed for protection, but annual maintenance is still recommended. Over time, exposure to the elements may cause natural wear, so periodic touch-ups or reapplications will help keep it at its best.

Your Gaga Pit arrives in its natural timber state. We recommend applying a natural oil, stain or exterior sealer before use. This helps lock in colour, repel moisture, and protect the timber from early weathering.

Please note:
This protective coat is not permanent. Timber products require ongoing annual maintenance to stay in their best condition. Reapplying oil or sealer each year will significantly extend the life of your pit and keep it looking great.

If you purchased a painted or pre-sealed product

No immediate action is required — your pit has already been finished for protection.
However, like all outdoor timber, annual maintenance is still recommended, as sun, rain and high-use environments naturally cause wear over time. Periodic touch-ups or reapplications will help maintain long-term durability.

General care for all Gaga Pits

-Keep the play space free of leaves and moisture build-up
- Check screws and fixings periodically (every term is ideal for schools)
- Ensure good drainage under and around the pit
- Re-oil, reseal or touch-up annually to sustain protection
- Expect natural timber movement — this is normal and part of working with a natural material

With simple, regular care, your Gaga Pit will remain stable, strong and enjoyable for many years of active play.
